My Programs are Personalized to Meet the Students Needs

I primarily teach from the Piano Adventures® Curriculum, which is the teaching method of choice at leading university pedagogy programs and major teaching studios around the world.  That being said, all piano lessons are still personalized to meet the needs of every student I teach.

About the Piano Adventures® Curriculum

This student-centered approach uses analysis, creativity, and expression to develop a “musical mind and heart.” The delightful, pianistic pieces and creative theory pages, combined with an outstanding technical approach encourage practice and progress—with adventure!

For younger students, age 4 - 5, the  Piano Adventures® primer captures the child’s playful spirit. To fully engage young children I additionally present visual games, auditory songs, and kinesthetic (feel/touch) activities, which develop musicality and beginning keyboard skills.

For ages 6 to 11 years old, the Basic Piano Adventures® series progresses students through eight levels of Theory, Technique, Artistry & Performance. These groundbreaking teaching materials are unparalleled for learning technical gesture for ease of expression, artistic play and musicality.

For ages 12 and up, the Accelerated Piano Adventures® series has the pacing and appeal within this age appropriate student-centered curriculum, which is ideal for the middle school student to learn to play the piano through discovery, creativity, and adventure.

For adults, whether you are just beginning with no prior music training or you are returning to the piano, I guide adult students through the fundamentals of music notation, and musical form. As you progress, you will learn triad inversions, time signatures, note rhythms, connected pedaling, and major and minor scales.

I am also happy to help seniors with finger exercises for arthritic hands, and brain stimulating exercises for those experiencing age related memory loss.

Within each age and skill level I include sight reading and ear training, rhythmic patterns and chord playing with lead sheets for playing popular songs. By learning to read music notation while simultaneously training the ear students become more musically literate, play with more rhythmic vitality, forward motion, and musical expression.
